Chris Botha, The MediaShop`s Director

Chris was born in 1977 in Bloemfontein. After school, he attended and graduated from the University of the Free State with a BA degree in Communications. The media bug bit very early on. Chris worked at the campus radio station (RSFM), and was the proud presenter of the sport show. He later became station manager and served on the University Student Representative Council. Chris decided to make the big move to Johannesburg to attend the AAA School of Advertising. After completing his postgraduate degree in Integrated Marketing, he specialised in media and did his internship at Publicis under Chris Eyre from whom he learnt a great deal.

When The MediaShop won the ABSA account in 2000 Chris joined the team. After three great years – learning at the feet of media legends such as Harry Herber, John Barham and Virginia Hollis, he decided to spread his wings and moved to Starcom where he worked with Gordon Patterson for 18 months. The MediaShop’s call was, however, far too strong and he rejoined the company in 2004 and was soon promoted to a management position. Chris was appointed to The MediaShop’s Board of Directors in July 2008.

Chris and his wife Julie recently celebrated the birth of their son, Adam. In his spare time, Chris loves to play sport. Rugby is at the top of the list, but he is also an avid – but poor – golfer. Chris and Julie are avid travellers and recently explored Europe and the USA.
