Since the 11th of June, very little other than Soccer has been the centre of all conversations. It has also been the centre of all TV viewing. Between Arianna and Telmar, we have received the viewership of all matches up to and including the 29th of June.

But over the years the media owners have had to cut down on vouchers copies as, let's face it, magazines cost a lot of money to print and they would much rather one buys a copy than gets a copy for free!

I recently had the honour of chatting to the sales team of one of the major media sales houses. We discussed the dichotomy that exists between the allocation of adspend between media owners – regardless of performance of their mediums.

Every day I am inundated with requests from print media owners to advertise in a host of special features and surveys. So much so that I collected and collated all requests received in a random one-week period.
Slipping in under the ad-avoidance radar
A quick Google search revealed that people are exposed to anything from 3,000 to 13,000 different media messages per day. Even if we conservatively assume its half that number, that amount of communication is still a mind boggling amount of information for people to contend with. So not surprisingly, people avoid advertising as much as possible. And new technology is empowering more and more people to become ad avoiders – consider the PVR!
